Jesus and the Widow\’s Mite

Once upon a time, there was a poor widow who had very little money. She had two sons and was struggling to make ends meet. One day, she heard that Jesus was coming to town and she wanted to go and see him. She had heard so many wonderful things about him and wanted to meet him in person.

So, she gathered up her two sons and they all went to the temple where Jesus was teaching. As they arrived, they saw that the temple was filled with people and the widow was worried that she wouldn’t be able to get close enough to see Jesus. But, as she was standing there, Jesus noticed her and called her over.

The widow was so excited and she quickly made her way to Jesus. He asked her what she had brought with her and she sadly replied that she had nothing. She had only two coins, which was all the money she had. Jesus told her to give the coins to the temple and she did so, with a heavy heart.

The other people in the temple were watching and they were amazed. They had all brought large amounts of money to give to the temple, but the widow had given the most. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. For they all gave out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

The people were amazed and they realized that it was not the amount of money that mattered, but the heart behind the gift. Jesus was teaching them that it is not how much we give, but how much we give out of our love for God.

The story of Jesus and the widow’s mite teaches us an important lesson. We should not be concerned with how much money we have, but with how much love we have in our hearts. We should give out of our love for God and not out of our abundance. The widow’s mite teaches us that even the smallest gift can be the most meaningful when it is given out of love.

The moral of this story is that we should always give out of love and not out of our abundance. We should give with a generous heart and not worry about how much we have to give. God will always be pleased with our gifts, no matter how small they may be.
